Veliko Trgovišće - map location
Veliko Trgovišće is a village and municipality in Krapina-Zagorje county in Croatia. According to the 2001 census, there are 5,220 inhabitants in the area. The community has a rather rich and long history. The parish was first mentioned in 1501.Over the place dominates the church of St. George, who is the protector of Veliko Trgovišće.
Mention worth while is also Three Saints Kings church in Velika Esparia and the church of God’s Mother Snowplough which is 525 years old. Between two world wars, Veliko Trgovišće used to be important trade and craftsmanship centre, the stagnation started after the Second World War.
Since V. Trgovišće is the entrance to the tourist region Zagorje, it wishes to change its appearance to conserve its natural beauty and cultural inheritance.
