The museum is situated in the Oršić manor house built in 1756. The new permanent exhibition, opened in June 2002, gives an interesting cultural and historical survey of the region from the 14th century till the abolishment of the feudal system in 1848. Gallant 18th century is depicted with an interior reflecting the time of the manor house's builders - counts Oršić. Visitors become familiar with the construction of late-medieval castles, arms and armour, and the central theme of the Peasant Rebellion of 1573 which is also presented in multimedia. We can trace the changes of feudal estates in the 17th and 18th century, and the exhibition finishes with the theme of the Croatian National Revival.
The museum offers a visit to the Baroque chapel of St. Francis Xavier with the exhibition of ecclesiastical art in Hrvatsko Zagorje and wine cellar. Visitors can choose strolling through the well-kept park and visiting the Monument to the Peasant Uprising and Matija Gubec. Temporary exhibitions are organised in the museum exhibition halls.
